The outer crank bearings go out just like traditional BB bearings. These motors are not completely sealed and water/dirt does seem to find its way in over time. Included in this kit are the main shaft bearings that are the typical culprits of the problem. It is recommended to use Molykote PG75 grease on the plastic and metal gears inside and sensor safe sealant on the covers when putting it back together.
